Finding Faulkner: The Progeny | Julie Ann Hagerman {Gen 4}

It started, as good quests always do, with a family tale.

Julie Ann Hagerman (Eliza Marie, Robert, Samuel, William) was born in Springfield, Greene Co, Missouri, October 20th 1869, to parents Eliza Marie Faulkner and Jacob Hagerman.

Julie Ann married Charles S Barnett (1866-1944) on December 21st 1892 in Labette Co., Kansas.

The couple had four children:

  • Charles Augustus Barnett b. 19 Dec 1894 d. 1959 m. Eva Belle Allison
  • UFN Barnett b. UNK d. UNK
  • Mabel Barnett b. 16 Aug 1898 d. 1991 m. Guylio Miller no issue
  • Bessie Barnett b. 16 Apr 1900 d. 1 Aug 1972 m. Ferman R Griffin

Julie Ann was born in Missouri while her family was en route to Kansas. She may have met her husband through her brother-in-law George Wood, her sister Ursilla's husband, as he was a boarder and farm hand in the household of Charles Barnett's family.

Julie Ann and Charles traveled West to California, presumably with sister Ursilla and her husband George, as their first child was born in Ventura, California, the same year and city as Ursilla's first child.

Whatever the reason for the journey West, by 1898 the couple was back in Kansas, where their last two daughters were born. To date it is unclear as to the identity or birth/death year of the fourth child, only that Julie Ann declares she is the mother of four children (3 living) on the 1910 US Census.

Husband Charles was a carpenter by trade, employed by various factories.

The family moved to Madison Co, Illinois around 1910 and there they remained.

Julie Ann Hagerman Barnett died March 2nd 1936 and is buried in St John's Cemetery in Granite City, Madison Co, Illinois. She was 66 years old.

Charles Sampson Barnett died in St Louis, MO on Aug 18th 1944 and is buried alongside his wife in St John's Cemetery. Charles was 77 years old.
