Finding Faulkner: The Progeny | Louisa Faulkner {Gen 4}



It started, as good quests always do, with a family tale.


Louisa Faulkner (Harrison H, Robert, Samuel, William) was born in Monroe Twp, Kosciusko Co, Indiana June 23rd 1857, to parents Robert Nelson Faulkner and Julia Ann King.

Louisa married William J Klingel (1856-1936) in Kosciusko Co. Indiana on June 29th 1880.

The couple had three children:

  • Charles Frederick Klingel b. 23 Apr 1883 d. 31 Oct 1967 m. (1)Iva E Boggs (2) Lois LNU no issue
  • Ralph F Klingel b. 18 Apr 1888 d. 26 Nov 1973 m. Lois E Firestone
  • Julia Berneice Klingel b. 29 Mar 1890 d. 27 Oct 1968 m. Ralph W Bartol

Louisa, like most women of her generation, was a homemaker. Her husband William was self employed as a harness maker and ran his own shop. When he retired from his trade, either by age or by the popularity of the motor car, he did odd jobs to support himself and Louisa. 

William J Klingel died May 24th 1936 and is buried in the Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw, Kosciusko Co., IN.

Louisa Faulkner Klingel followed her husband just 4 years later. Louisa died January 17th 1940 of Myocarditis and is buried alongside her husband in the Oakwood Cemetery.

Finding Faulkner: The Progeny | Rachel Faulkner {Gen 4}


It started, as good quests always do, with a family tale.


Rachel Faulkner (Harrison H, Robert, Samuel, William) was born in Monroe Twp, Kosciusko Co, Indiana about 1853, to parents Robert Nelson Faulkner and Julia Ann King.

Rachel married John O Kegg in Kosciusko Co on April 28th 1877.

The couple had two children:

  • Myrtle M Kegg b. 27 Apr 1881 d. 25 Oct 1970 m. Charles D Bridge
  • Elmer Chester Kegg b. 17 Feb 1884 d. 28 Jun 1969 never married

John Kegg was a blacksmith by trade, Rachel a housewife. 

Rachel died early in her life, passing away on April 11th 1889, leaving behind a husband and two young children. Rachel is buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Pierceton, Kosciusko Co, Indiana. 

John remarried the following July. He wed Isabelle Alexander on July 19th 1890. John and Isabelle would have one child together, a daughter named Bertha Belle Kegg.

John O Kegg died in 1940 and is buried in the Grace Lawn Cemetery in Elkhart, Elkhart Co, Indiana.

Finding Faulkner: The Progeny | John Wesley Faulkner {Gen 4}


It started, as good quests always do, with a family tale.


John Wesley Faulkner (Harrison H, Robert, Samuel, William) was born in Monroe Twp, Kosciusko Co, Indiana September 7th 1850, to parents Robert Nelson Faulkner and Julia Ann King.

John W married Alice V Norris September 2nd 1874 in Kosciusko Co, Indiana.

The couple had five children: all born Kosciusko Co, IN

  • Lillie M Faulkner b. 28 May 1876 d. 29 Apr 1955 m. George Campbell no issue
  • Lura Olive Faulkner b. 30 Jul 1877 d. 2 Oct 1964 m. James R Winsley
  • Lulu Addie Faulkner b. 1 Aug 1879 d. 6 Sep 1905 m. George W Winsley
  • Loyal Clyde Faulkner b. 5 Aug 1883 d. 28 May 1968 m. Eva M Headlee
  • Lyman Mark Faulkner b. 16 Aug 1885 d. 19 Jan 1959 m. Fannie F Clover

John W Faulkner was a farmer in Kosciusko Co, Indiana his whole life. From "A standard history of Kosciusko County, Indiana" by Lemuel W. Royse: "John W. Faulkner. One of the enterprising and progressive men who are principally engaged in agricultural pursuits in Kosciusko County, John W. Faulkner brought to his calling excellent judgment and good business methods, and his labors have been crowned with success. He owns a good and well managed farm of 160 acres in Monroe Township, 3 1/2 miles south of Pierceton on rural route No. 2. 
  Mr. Faulkner was born in this township September 7, 1850, son of Nelson and Julia A. (King) Faulkner. His father was born in New York State and his mother in Ohio. Nelson Faulkner came to Indiana at the age of twenty-one, and became a resident of Kosciusko County. The King family came to the state in pioneer times and first located at Kendallville, and afterwards moved to Noble County, where they died. Nelson Faulkner and wife had six children, four of whom are still living: Barbara, wife of Mr. Hoagland, of Warsaw; John W; Louisa, wife of William Klingle; Hannah, wife of William Mounson; Rachel, who married John Kegg, and is now deceased; and Isaac N., deceased. 
  John W. Faulkner spent his early days on the old farm in Monroe Township, was educated in the common schools, and lived at home until his parents moved to Pierceton. On September 2, 1874, he married Miss Alice V. Norris.
  Mrs. Faulkner was born in Wabash County, Indiana, December 9, 1854, but was brought to Kosciusko County as a child by her parents, who located in Monroe Township. Mr. and Mrs. Faulkner have the following children living: Lilly M., wife of George W. Campbell; Lura 0., wife of James R. Winsley; Lula A., wife of George W. Winsley; Loyal C, who married Eva M. Headlee and lives on an adjoining farm ; and Lyman M., who married Fannie F. Clover and is a farmer in Monroe Township.
  The family are members of the Christian Church and Mr Faulkner is a Republican."

John W Faulkner died suddenly on December 27th 1936 of a cerebral hemorrhage. He was 86 years old. John is buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Pierceton, Kosciusko Co, IN.

Alice V Norris Faulkner died November 1st 1941. She was 86 years old. She is buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery alongside her husband.

Finding Faulkner: The Progeny | Barbara Ann Faulkner {Gen 4}


It started, as good quests always do, with a family tale.


Barbara Ann Faulkner (Harrison H, Robert, Samuel, William) was born in Wabash Co, Indiana March 18th 1849, to parents Robert Nelson Faulkner and Julia Ann King.

Barbara married Jeremiah R Hoagland in Kosciusko Co, Indiana on September 27th 1866.

The couple had seven children: all born Kosciusko Co, IN

  • Lamora Hoagland b. 1 Nov 1867 d. 29 Sep 1947 m. John Rhodes
  • Edwin C Hoagland b. Sep 1869 d. 1936 m. (1) Laura M Lucas (2) Florence I Todd
  • Charles Hoagland b. 3 Mar 1873 d. 21 Feb 1941 m. Effie J Crouse
  • Grace D Hoagland b. 26 Jul 1979 d. 15 Dec 1949 m. Ancil L Sellers
  • Maude Hoagland b. 2 Sep 1880 d. 11 Feb 1963 m. (1) Arthur A Downing (2) Edward Flook
  • Arthur Hoagland b. Jul 1884 D. UNK
  • Lena F Hoagland b. 4 Sep 1892 d. 20 Sep 1943 m. Ralph R Whitney

Jeremiah Hoagland was a farmer in Kosciusko Co, Indiana. He served as a private in the Indiana Calvary during the Civil War. Upon completion of his service, Jeremiah married Barbara, thirteen years his junior, and the couple began their family.

Jeremiah Hoagland died July 12th 1906 and is buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Pierceton, Kosciusko Co, IN. He left his widow a substantial farm and homestead. At the time he wrote his will his son Arthur had been "absent from home and unheard from" since about 1902.

Barbara Ann Faulkner Hoagland died October 16th 1918 an is buried alongside her husband in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Her will names her seven children, stating that son Arthur was still "absent from home and unheard from". 

I have yet to discover the whereabouts of Arthur.
