Finding Faulkner: The Progeny | Fannie A Sloat {Gen 4}


It started, as good quests always do, with a family tale.


Fannie A Sloat (Mary Jane, James, Samuel, William) was born in  Washtenaw County, Michigan, June 8th 1844, to parents Mary Jane Faulkner and Josiah R Sloat, Sr.

Fannie married Milo T Carpenter (1837-1923) on June 13th 1872 in Sharon, Washtenaw Co, Michigan.

The couple had one child:

  • Helen Martha Carpenter b. Jul 1876 d. 1954 m. James A Newbury

Milo served in the Civil War before marrying Fannie. He enlisted in Company E, Michigan 4th Cavalry Regiment on 28 Aug 1862 and mustered out on 28 Jul 1863 at Nashville, TN. He received a pension in 1892. He was a blacksmith and a farmer in Michigan. Milo was a bachelor until the age of 35. Fannie was a spinster who also married later in life, the couple had one child.

Milo T Carpenter died December 1st 1923 at the age of 86. He is buried in Horton Cemetery in Horton, Jackson Co, Michigan,

Fannie A Sloat Carpenter lived a decade longer than her husband, passing away on April 29th 1933. She was 88 years old. Fannie is buried alongside her husband in the Horton Cemetery.
