Finding Faulkner: The Progeny | Ursilla A Hagerman {Gen 4}

It started, as good quests always do, with a family tale.

Ursilla A Hagerman (Eliza Marie, Robert, Samuel, William) was born in Monroe Twp., Kosciusko Co, Indiana, August 13th 1861, to parents Eliza Marie Faulkner and Jacob Hagerman.

Ursilla married George A Wood (1855-1937) on January 29th 1886 in Labette Co, Kansas. This was a second marriage for George, presumably divorced.

The couple had two children:

  • Chester Avah Wood b. 31 Jan 1894 d. 1 Nov 1941 m. Pearl E Castleberry
  • Victor Darwin Wood b. 11 Nov 1899 d. 8 Mar 1962 m. Elsie M Castleberry

George Wood was a farmer in Greene Co, Illinois. He was married first to Sarah King and had two children with her. Prior to his marriage to Ursilla George must have divorced Sarah as both are remarried to other spouses by 1892. George's first two children remained with their mother and step father, residing in McLean Co, Illinois.

George appeared to have left his farm and home in 1885, as he turned up in March of that year on the Kansas census, as a single farmer in Labette Co. The following January George married Ursilla and the couple headed west. Their first child, Chester, was born in Ventura, California in 1894. By 1899, and the birth of their second child, the family had returned to Greene Co, Illinois, and George's farm, where they remained.

Ursilla A Hagerman Wood died January 9th 1929 at the age of 67. She is buried in Richwoods Cemetery in Athensville, Greene Co, Illinois.

George A Wood died 7 years later on August 22nd 1937. George was 82. He is buried in Richwoods Cemetery alongside his wife.
