Roswell married Carrie A Hamilton on March 25th 1879 in Parsons, Labette Co, Kansas.

The couple had five children:

  • Edward Hagerman b. 10 Jun 1880 d. 5 Jul 1880

Roswell was a dairy farmer in Mount Pleasant, Kansas. He sold butter, grew corn and wheat, and had a peach orchard. In 1888 he was appointed to Postmaster in Hudson, located in the Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory  on the border of what is now Kansas and Oklahoma. Roswell held that position until 1896, when his wife died.

Roswell Hagerman remained in Oklahoma and raised his children while farming on rented land.
