Finding Faulkner: The Progeny | Lloyd Anson Faulkner M.D. {Gen 4}

It started, as good quests always do, with a family tale.

Lloyd Anson Faulkner M.D. (Harrison, James, Samuel, William) was born in Faribault, Rice Co, Minnesota, September 30th 1862, to parents Harrison Faulkner and Jane Whitford.

Lloyd married Anna Elizabeth O'Connell (1861-1962) in St Paul, Ramsey Co, Minnesota, on August 5th 1891.

The couple had five children:

  • Raymond Lloyd Faulkner b. 6 Jul 1892 d. 29 Jan 1972 m. Marion G Spates
  • Mary Edith Faulkner b. 21 Nov 1894 d. 23 Sep 1957 m. Franklin Armstrong no issue

Lloyd Anson Faulkner was the second child born to his father Harrison and the third to his mother "Jennie" Faulkner. He had one older step brother, one older full brother and one younger brother. His father was a carpenter and his mother was a seamstress.

His parents divorced when Lloyd was 16 years old.

When Lloyd was about 20 he and his mother moved to Chicago, IL so that Lloyd could attend Bennett Medical College where his uncle, Henry K Whitford M.D., was a professor. Lloyd graduated on April 1st 1885 after completing his studies in Eclectic Medicine and Surgery.

The new doctor returned to Minnesota soon after graduating.

For a time Dr Faulkner ran a side business dealing in gems and minerals obtained from Lake Superior. The venture was called "Dr L A Faulkner & Co, Natural Science Establishment".

Dr Faulkner delivered all his own children, of course!

Dr Lloyd Anson Faulkner died December 18th 1933 of prostate cancer. He was 71 years old. He is buried in Acacia Park Cemetery in Mendota Heights, MN.

Anna Elizabeth O'Connell Faulkner continued to lead a long and healthy life for the next 29 years! Anna died April 18th 1962 at the impressive age of 100. She is buried alongside her husband in Acacia Park Cemetery.

Fun fact: all the children were called by their middle names ......
