Finding Faulkner: The Progeny | James Faulkner {Gen 4}


It started, as good quests always do, with a family tale.


James Faulkner (Matthew, Wm Bull, James, William) was born in  Orange Co, New York about 1816, to parents Matthew Faulkner and Isabelle "Sibi" Robinson.

James married (1) Margaret Greer (1814-1851) date UNK. He married (2) Rebecca Jane Tucker (1826-1910) date UNK.


James and Margaret had at least two children:
  • Almeda Faulkner b. 1848 d. 1898 m. John Bodine
  • George Faulkner b. 1850 d. 1937 m. (1) Mary Gordon (2) May LNU

James and Rebecca Jane had at least four children:
  • James Harrison Faulkner b. 1855 d. 1940 m. Mary M Grey
  • Charles William Faulkner b. 1858 d. 1948 m. Lena R Briggs
  • William Henry Faulkner b. 1860 d. 1925 b. Ida C Kniffin
  • Franklin H Faulkner b. 1864 d. 1887 never married

James Faulkner was a farmer near Middletown, New York. "According to family tradition, a family feud arose because one of the brothers married a Catholic, so all but James went south." From the Bull/Wells Book.

James Faulkner died November 27th 1886 and is buried in the Scotchtown Cemetery in Orange Co, New York. Margaret Greer Faulkner died May 1st 1851 and is buried in the Old Congregational Cemetery in Orange Co, New York. Rebecca Jane Tucker died July 30th 1910 and is buried with her husband in the Scotchtown Cemetery.
